EARLY AUGUST 2024
CMP will be energizing the new transmission line and deactivating the current line during the Aug. 3-4 weekend (weather dependent). No customer outages are expected.
Beginning the week of Aug. 5, wreck out of the older line will begin in Warren and travel the corridor to Windsor in the next few months. You'll see ground mats being added back to areas where they already had been removed. Vegetation clean-up and restoration work also will take place.
If you have any questions, please contact Project Outreach at [email protected] or call 888.267.0831. Thank you!
HELICOPTER LINE INSPECTION:
CMP will be conducting an inspection of the Section 80 transmission line and corridor on Thursday, May 30. Rain date is Friday, May 31. Among the items being reviewed are new structures and lines, tree cutting, environmental conditions, and other areas.
MAY 2024 STATUS:
New Line: CMP is setting mats, drilling for structure foundations, installing poles, and pulling wire in Warren and parts of Waldoboro. We expect the new line construction to be completed by the end of July. The crossover of power from the current line to the new line also will occur at that time. No customer power outages are expected.
Old Line Wreck Out: Once the new line is energized and serving the electricity needs of our Mid-Coast customers, the old line will be removed. This process is much faster than construction, and we anticipate being completed in about five months. We'll start in Warren and move towards the end of the line in Windsor.
TREES:
Ironwood Heavy Hauling LLC is CMP's contractor for trimming or cutting danger and hazard trees inside the Section 80 right of way (ROW) to its border. They are an experienced tree care and vegetation maintenance company with offices in Maine.
Tree work along the S-80 corridor will begin November 1 (weather dependent). Ironwood recently sent tree-work notification letters to all abutters along the southern or right side of the ROW (when facing towards Warren), and will be contacting our neighbors whose trees border the ROW about why we need to trim or cut them. They will ask landowners for permission to cut trees that are on their property and close to the ROW border that pose a danger to the line.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Matting, pole setting, and other construction-related crews are working in sequences. To see the sequence of work, please visit Construction Process. Additional work will be needed at later dates.
Crews may be in an area for one or more days, leave, and return at a later date depending on the nature of the work they are doing. Our work schedule may change due to weather.
SAFETY:
At CMP, safety is a priority – yours and our crews. Our right-of-way will be an active construction site. Please do not enter the right of way. If you have any questions, please contact Project Outreach at [email protected] or 888.267.0831.
