As part of the transmission line upgrade construction project underway in your community, Central Maine Power Company (CMP) is removing or trimming trees in our right of way (ROW) along the entire route to protect the line and reduce the possibility of outages due to storm-related damages.
While we love trees, unfortunately they pose a danger to the transmission line, risk the safety of our neighbors, and create significant property damage. The right-of-way in some areas has become overgrown and needs to be re-established during construction of the upgrade.
Ironwood Heavy Highway, LLC
CMP has hired Ironwood Heavy Highway, LLC to remove trees in our right of way boundary or trim branches that are hanging into it from trees on private properties. Please view Ironwood’s letter sent in October 2023.
Ironwood representatives are contacting abutting landowners to discuss why the trees are being removed, and to talk about trees on private properties that are identified as a danger or hazard and pose a threat to the new transmission line.
Types of Trees to Be Removed
Here is a list of the types of trees that pose a danger or threat to the transmission line:
Your Permission is Needed
After trees in the ROW have been cut or trimmed, you may notice stubs that, too, could pose a danger and appear unsightly.
We’d like to remove the tree stubs or any identified danger trees that are remaining outside the right of way and would like your permission to enter your property to cut them down.
Our window to cut trees closes at the beginning of April and we need to get this work completed before then. The Section 80 rebuild will be completed by late summer.
